Tired girl

We have walked miles.  My feet are numb.  My legs are screaming.  But we are having a wonderful time.  Some of the things we’ve done:

Thursday: arrive at heathrow. Took the train to the city and checked into our hotel.  Hopped the tube again to Westminster for a tour of the Abbey.  Dinner. Traditional steak and ale pie with mashed.  Then a walk over the bridge, over the river Thames, for one trip around The Eye.  We walked to Trafalgar Square and unfortunately the national Gallery museum had closed 10 minutes earlier.  We walked to Buckingham palace and it was beautifully lit up at night. A few more blocks walk to the St. James train station and headed back to our hotel. We then met our friends and walked to the troubadour for a fun night of live music.
Friday: Skyview garden tour with Mary and her granddaughter Addyson.  I’ve worked with Mary for many years. They are here for a fun vacation and our travel dates overlapped a little.  We met at the walkie-talkie building. We then went to tour the Tower of London. Lunch and then a short train ride to Victoria station where we left them to go pack and head back to Tampa.  Caroline and I headed back to the national portrait Gallery and spent a couple hours gawking at the beautiful art. We then took the train to Knightsbridge and did a little shopping at H and M and Harrods.  Dinner at a pub in earls court.
Saturday:  Met Bernie at the Shakespeare Globe Theatre. Then a trip to the market and lunch. We walked back across the bridge over the Thames River to the train station and headed to Chelsea.  I wanted to check out bimba.  That was a wasted trip as far as Bimba but we did see rows of beautiful apartments and many other shops.   We took a double-decker city bus to the museum of natural history area. We did not go in that museum; however, we went to the Royal Albert Hall to see the Noel Fielding art exhibit.  We then walked back to the Victoria and Albert Museum to gaze (gawk?) at the beautiful café.  We saw many exquisitesculpitures on our way in and out of the V&A museum.     We got back on the train for a couple of stops to earls court to retrieve our luggage from the hotel. Then to the the train to meet Keith.   Wonderful Indian dinner.

Dinner with Bernie, Keith, and Caroline

Tonight Bernie and Keith treated us to a delicious dinner. Caroline was happy to have her first authentic Indian meal. We picked a few starters and meals to share. I am blessed to have such wonderful and gracious hosts. We met through our mutual love of music. I am very fortunate to have them in my life. Xoxo

Thursday Night at the Troubador

So bonehead me didn’t take one photo.   Pat, Carole, Jimmy, and Annette met us at Earls Court train station and walked us to this wonderful club the Troubador.  There is a bar at street level but downstairs through a somewhat hidden door is the music club.  It has been there since 1954 and has hosted many artists who went on to become names you would recognize.  Tonight we saw three acts and had a fun time.  I shared my mike sell’s pretzels and we had a few beers.  I have wonderful friends in London that I’ve met through our mutual love of music.  I am blessed.

This Troubador in LA (opened 1957) was a copy of the London club.  Check out Wikipedia if interested.
